Wrong ranges?

It says that the ranges have been updated for 1.8.0, but in my game the Morrigi sensor station has a range of around 18, not 12! BlueTemplar 10:04, 12 March 2011 (CST)

  • This is really a question that needs to be posted to the forums. The scan range of the Morrigi sensor station in the .shipsection file says that the range is 12, so that is what is posted here. But I've never seen an answer to the question of whether Advanced Sensors increases the base range of just non-DS, EW, Sensor Station or Sensor Platform ships and planets or if it also increases the sensor ranges found in the .shipsection files of DS, EW, Sensor Stations or Sensor Platforms and Asteroid Monitors. As an two additional unanswered questions, 1) where can we find the base sensor range of planets and ships? Silvaril posted what is here, but I don't know where he got that info. And 2)What does SENSORMOD_*species* do? I *think* if modifies the base range of standard ships and planets, but I have no idea how it effects DS, EW, Sensor Stations or Sensor Platforms. Even after all this time ther is still a lot that we don't know --Nspace 22:56, 12 March 2011 (CST)

Also when you get Deep Scan, planet scan range DEFINITELY increases. BlueTemplar 12:34, 21 March 2011 (CDT)

The basic Zuul ranges are greater than 4.0. I can see enemy ships that are over 5.0 ly from my nearest ships or planets with no sensor techs. I suspect the range is 6.0 from planets. kdonovan 20:44, 29 May 2011 (CDT)

Things to fit in at some point

Someone who's read The Art of War should put a Sun-Tzu quote in there somewhere. Perhaps when I have more time I will look up a suitable one --StarOne 17:33, 29 May 2006 (PDT)

Born of Blood change needed

  • I do not yet have BoB, but I imagine there's something with Zuul being able to see their nodeline endpoints in tactical view. Sma 15:41, 17 December 2007 (CST)

Sensor Ranges

Good job on putting it all together, Silvaril! There are some things to add though - afaik strategic scan ranges of colonies and AMs increase with Deep Scans. -- Dastox 14:58, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

A Recommendation

I am a noob to the game and cannot figure out how to manually fire my weapons at cloaked ships. I have not found it anywhere on this wiki, just the fact that it can be done. Thanks Matster 03:30, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

  • What you are looking for is on the wiki on the Interface Commands page, which is taken directly from the games manual/profile.ini. The exact command you are looking for is ALT + Left Button Click. I'll look at this page and the cloak pages and see if it would be better to just include a link to the hotkey page or just the command. --Nspace 18:10, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
